Sweet Sixteen

My daughter had her sweet sixteen on Monday. I kept her out of school (she collected her assignments first) and we spent the day with her best friend "T." I decorated very early in the morning, inflating Mylar balloons (yes, I have a helium tank) and wrapping presents. The girls took their time rolling out of bed and once awake, the kid opened her gifts. She had received a gold heart shaped necklace from her best friend, as well as a Baby Phat top and some pure pigment eye shadows. From me, she received a small potted bamboo plant and food, a sterling silver necklace & "sweet sixteen" charm, two tops (a Billabong tee & a tank top) from Zumiez, two Capri pants (from Max Rave,) two pairs of flip flops and a card.

Once the girls were showered, blow dried and shellacked (about two and a half hours later) we took the bus up to the mall. First, we ate a very expensive meal at the Elephant Bar. T her best friend had a "Grilled Teriyaki Chicken Caesar Salad - $7.95" (which I had to teach her how to shred with two forks,) I had the macadamia nut encrusted fish with chips (it was pretty damn gross) at the recommendation of the waitress and the kid had the "Fire Grilled Beef Tri-Tip and BBQ Shrimp -13.25" of course! Oh, this was after filling up on sodas and the "The Steamer Trunk “Super Sampler” -12.95" We took most of it home with us.

(the colors came out horrible in my webcam shot)
I had ordered a cookie cake -$24.99 from Mrs. Fields (it rocked! - thanks to Kristin)and we got extremely overcharged for our nail service ($63.00 for two manicures, one with design and a fill with two designs for me) from "Venus Nails" - I should have known better since I was ripped off there before. All in all, it was a nice day. I also ordered the girls a pizza for dinner and we watched two DVDs the kid bought for herself - "Tenacious D & The Pick of Destiny" and "Saving Private Ryan."
