Frosty Morning

Now that I have this new monitor and the kid got a digital camera (nothing fancy) during Christmas, I am going to have to buy myself a digital camera as well. I think that's what this little diary of mine really needs.

I woke up earlier this morning around eight and decided to just lay in bed for an hour or so more. Sometimes, it's just really nice to wake up early when you don't have too and just appreciate that quiet time when you don't have to do anything. I just love the way my sheets feel, extra worn in and with my down comforter I hardly ever want to get out of bed.

But, I did. I took the garbage outside and I saw that there was frost on the grass and that the sunshine looked clear and sharp enough to cut glass. I love mornings like these.

---------------Now something fun.

Lisanne recently searched her birthdate on Wikipedia.org so I thought I would in turn do the same. Here are some of the slightly interesting things I found out regarding my birthdate: April 6th.
  1. Earliest solar eclipse recorded by the Ancient Greeks. (648 BC) - Ooh Aah!
  2. The poet Petrarch first sees his idealized love, Laura, in the church of Saint Clare in Avignon. (1327) - I find this very romantic :)
  3. Napoleon abdicates. He is then exiled to Elba. (1814) - Interesting..
  4. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is organized by Joseph Smith, Jr. at Fayette, New York. (1830)
  5. In Athens, the opening of the first modern Olympic Games 1,500 years after being banned by Roman Emperor Theodosius I. (1896)
  6. World War I: United States declares war on Germany. (1917)
  7. Gandhi raises a lump of mud and salt and declares, "With this, I am shaking the foundations of the British Empire." Thus he starts Salt Satyagraha. (1930)
  8. Teflon is discovered. (1938)
  9. The Beatles begin recording Revolver at Abbey Road Studios. (1966)
  10. Four California Highway Patrol officers die in one of the worst police killings in the CHP's history. (1970)
  11. Linda Rae was born to parents Donna and George. (1976)
  12. The Rwandan Genocide begins when the aircraft carrying Rwandan president Juvénal Habyarimana and Burundian president Cyprien Ntaryamira is shot down by extremists. (1994)
  13. The World Meteorological Organization declares the retirement of five storm names from the Atlantic hurricane naming lists, including the name Katrina. (2006)

Okay, so at first the date of my birth starts out pretty good but hits all kinds of rough spots as well. At least I know when Teflon was discovered now...
